About Us

My name is Lana Lierheimer. I was born and raised in Mexico, Missouri. I went to Mexico Public Schools and was involved in the local 4-H and FFA organizations. When I started 4-H I was eight. One of the projects I joined during 4-H was Dogs. I did dogs from the age of eight to the age of seven-teen.When I was seven-teen the Audrain County 4-H dog Project Leader retired and I decided I would take over her role. I am now in my fifth year of being the Audrain County 4-H Dog Project Leader.

After I graduated Mexico High School I went to the Tom Rose School for Professional Dog Trainers near St. Louis, Missouri. I recently graduated from their Professionals program that required me to buy and train two puppies while I was there. Upon graduation of the Professionals program I was given my certification.

Ever since I was a little girl I can remember having dogs. I've grown up with them and have always loved them, big and small. My dog training career started when my parents let me get my first dog a golden retriever I named Buddy. After I had to put Buddy to sleep I got another golden retriever pup I named Penny. With this dog I really began training and started winning a lot of ribbons at the 4-H County Fair. Not long after Penny turned six we found out she had hemangiosarcoma or cancer of the blood. Two weeks after we found that out Penny collapsed and I decided to put her to sleep so she didn't suffer.

Penny was the smartest and most loyal dog I have ever met and owned. I could teach her anything within a few hours of work. It never mattered what I wanted her to do, she'd always do anything I asked. Because of Penny and how much she meant to me I knew once I got out of collage I would name my dog training business after her. That is where I got the name Yellow Paws from, my beautiful girl who had yellow paws...
